• Research Scientist at the Cancer Research Institute, UCSF, and Adjunct Assistant and Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at UCSF, 1981-1991

• Currently Professor and Chair of the Department of Microbiology at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, and director of the Microbiology Research Laboratory
