? 1. What are your Qualifications for Office? (50 word limit)

Answer from Kim Downey:

I will use my accounting / auditing experience to guide the District through a challenging financial period and pursue new funding avenues to ensure our schools are fiscally sound.

Answer from Brian W. Compton:

I have been an educator for 11 years, I have numerous experiences in leadership and planning, I know the district and many of the staff personally, I have been involved in contract negotiations, and I have an incredible passion for helping students.

? 2. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (100 word limit)

Answer from Kim Downey:

1. Expansion of parent involvement by offering additional opportunities for parenting education. 2. Research additional funding through grants and the way charter schools are funded. 3. Instill respect for teachers and staff by students and parents through emphasis on the importance of teachers and staff to the education of each child.

Answer from Brian W. Compton:

I want to develop a utility plan that looks at our usage and has sensible solutions for reducing it and for incorporating green tech when possible. I will look at extra-curricular transportation to find ways to be more efficient but still meet our obligations. Through savings and grants, I want to get more educational technology to give greater student access and allow teachers to enhance instruction. I will work to give teachers in all buildings the tools to compete for grant dollars, and I want to get our district in the pipeline for state and federal monies.
