I have had the honor and privilege to serve the citizens of Cincinnati since 2005. I currently serve as Vice-Chair of the Law & Public Safety and Economic Development committees and as a Member of the Finance Committee. I grew up in Huntington, West Virginia, directly across the Ohio River from Chesapeake, Ohio. My love for the City of Cincinnati stems from my childhood in West Virginia, when, as a child, my family would travel to Cincinnati for long weekends in the summer, attending Reds games and frequenting Kings Island. The excitement I felt as a child has not subsided. In a town that offered me everything from the arts to a world-class zoo, I was always certain Cincinnati would become my home. Outside of my professional career, I have had a rich history of service to my community. My involvement includes: being a tutor in the Cincinnati Public Schools, first at Washington Park Elementary, then McKinley Elementary; a former Board Member for Youth Opportunities United; a development committee member for Women Helping Women; a Sunday School Teacher for Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church; a volunteer/donor for Pro-Kids, a volunteer for Dress for Success Cincinnati, the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross, Hoxworth Blood Center as a blood/bone-marrow/stem cell donor, a volunteer for the May Festival, the Cincinnati Jaycees, and Ensemble Theatre. My true passion is being an straight-talking, common sense advocate for Cincinnati. My top priority as City Councilmember is working with residents and my colleagues to address public safety issues. During my time on City Council, I have worked to increase and maintain the size of our police force, worked to reduce taxes and spending and fought to increase the quality of life in Cincinnati's neighborhoods. I attended West Virginia University, where I obtained a bachelor's degree in English. I went on to earn my jurist doctorate from Capital University (Columbus, Ohio) in 1994. I reside in North Avondale with my husband Steve and son George. |
