Media Democratic Election Year Promises
Media Democratic Election year Promises In 2005 and 2007 when the current Democratic majority was elected they promised and pledged to:

Fiscal Promises:

  • "We will not raise taxes" (Letter to Media Residents, dated Nov 5, 2005) They raised your taxes 690% from $60 to $415!

Public Safety Promises/Pledges: (Media Democrat Newsletter dated Nov 4, 2005)
  • "Conduct sensitivity and cultural diversity training for Media Police"
  • Install video cameras in police cars
  • Implement "Resident Ride Along Program"
  • Facilitate a "Community/Police Dialogue"
  • Restore "Traffic/Pedestrian Safety Unit"
  • Host a "Day out for Safety"

Not one of these promises or pledges has been implemented!

Citizen Participation Promises/Pledges: (Media Democrat Newsletter, Nov 4)

  • Start a "Media Public Forum Series"
  • Create a "Resident Liaison Group"
  • Start a "Community Dialogue Program"
  • Create a "Council-Resident Outreach Team"
  • Create a "Town-Wide Neighborhood Support System"
  • Re-establish the "Art & Architecture Board"
  • "Create and host an Old House Fair"(Newsletter 2007)

Not one of these promises or pledges has been implemented!

Environmental Promises:

  • Claim to be "Dedicated to a Sustainable Environment"
  • Pledged to support "efforts to promote solar and wind and reduce dependence on foreign oil"

Voted against a, landmark, anti-idling ordinance that would have reduced air, noise, and carbon emissions! They have not applied for any grants for additional solar installations.
