Lois Murphy graduated from Harvard College in 1984, magna cum laude and Harvard Law School in 1987, cum laude. While in law school, Lois met her husband, Benjamin Eisner, Ben and Lois have two children who attend Lower Merion public schools and have been married for 20 years. After law school, Lois served as a law clerk to the Honorable George C. Pratt of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Lois was selected for the Honors Program at the United States Department of Justice, under Attorney General Richard Thornburgh, where she served as a trial and appellate litigator in the Civil Division. Lois then served as associate legal counsel to the NARAL Pro-Choice America, a no-profit advocacy organization, where she contributed to two briefs to the United States Supreme Court and assisted in crafting state and federal legislation and litigation strategies to protect the fundamental constitutional rights of women. From 1993 to 1996, Lois practiced law as an associate at Morgan Lewis in Philadelphia, and from 1996 through 2005 practiced at Heckscher, Teillon, Terrill & Sager, in West Conshohocken, where she became a partner in the field of trusts and estates, Orphans' Court litigation and charitable planning. Lois has substantial experience appearing in court in Montgomery County. Lois currently serves as a Commissioner on the Pennsylvania Commission for Women. In 2004 and 2006 Lois was a candidate for United States Congress in Pennsylvania's 6th Congressional District, which includes portions of Montgomery County, Chester County and Berks County Pennsylvania, a one of the closest and most hotly contested contests in the nation. From April 2007 through January 2009, Lois served as Director of the Governor's Action Team, Southeast Regional Office, serving Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery Counties, working on behalf of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to foster economic growth and opportunity. Lois now practices law in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania as Of Counsel with Heckscher, Teillon, Terrill and Sager, PC in West Conshohocken. |
