Councilmember Kevin Dowling is a proud, lifelong Alameda County resident. He has lived in Hayward for 46 years and attended local schools, including Moreau Catholic High School and Santa Clara University.

Kevin served for 11 years on Hayward City commissions, including the Hayward Planning Commission from 1993 to 1998. In 1998, Kevin was elected to the Hayward City Council, where he quickly became a leader in economic development, education, public safety, transportation, and more. Kevin was easily re-elected in 2002 and again in 2006. He served as Hayward Mayor Pro Tempore, the number two spot on the Council behind the Mayor, from 2001 to 2002, and again in 2008.

For eight years, as part of his work on the City Council, Kevin served on the Hayward Economic Development Committee. He understands the complexities of our local economy and knows how to make the smallest, tightest budgets work for the most people in our communities.

In addition to his service on the Hayward City Council, Kevin has also worked as an aide to two Alameda County Supervisors, having served Supervisor Alice Lai-Bitker for six years and Supervisor Gail Steele for four years. Throughout his decade of service in Alameda County government, Kevin worked closely with Supervisors Lai-Bitker and Steele on the very issues he will be facing if he is elected as the next District 2 Supervisor.

When not serving the public in local government, Kevin does work in the community, with such groups as the Eden Youth Center and the Hayward Education Foundation. For the past year, Kevin has worked for the Boys and Girls Club of San Leandro, where he helped raise $400,000 for vital youth programs.

Kevin's work in county government, city government, and the non-profit community makes him uniquely and exceptionally qualified to serve as the next Alameda County Supervisor from District 2.
