• Married to Andrea Peixoto since 1989
• Resident of Hayward for 38 years

• St. Joseph High School, Alameda, CA

• Vietnam Era Veteran, serving in the United States Navy from July 1965 to July 1971. Honorably Discharged.

• Alameda County, Budget Analyst, Grants Manager 1991-2001
• Alameda County Training & Employment Board/Associated Community Action Program (ACTEB/ACAP), 1977-1991. Two positions:
  1. Supervised a staff of 15 to retrain and place laid off Caterpillar Tractor workers
  2. Contracts Officer / Fiscal Compliance Monitor.
• Viet Nam Era Veterans Counselor, 1975 - 1977

• Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 535 + 20+ years, ACTEB/ACAP and the County of Alameda

• Wrote proposal to develop a collaborative One Stop Employment System for Alameda and Contra Costa counties. Proposal was subsequently funded.
• Wrote several proposals to retrain and place laid off workers in Alameda County. Proposals were subsequently funded totaling $6 million.
