The Party for Socialism and Liberation campaign of Carlos Alvarez for CA Governor stands with all students, teachers, faculty, and workers. In California, education is suffering from $18 billion in cuts, affecting working-class students the most. Gov. Schwarzeneggers new budget puts the UC system in a $450 million deficit. Yet, in 2009 California taxpayers paid nearly $115 billion to fund the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The same amount could pay the tuition of 17 million California university students. We demand that the people's money be used for education, jobs, health care and housing--not war. Reverse all cuts and tuition hikes! Educations should be free--Pre-K through college! Tax the rich: make them pay for the crisis they created! |
