John Smith is the second of six children, whose father was in the Navy for 20+ years moving the family from East and West coast Navel Bases during his career.

John joined the United States Marine Corp in 1981, following his family's long history of Military service to our country. After completion of Basic training at Parris Island, S.C. John attended Weather Service Training at Chanute AFB, IL. Upon completing A School, he was transferred to Tustin, Ca. and remained until his Honorable Discharge in 1985.

During his time in the Marine Corp, he served four years on the Honor Guard, received several citation of Merit, Good Conduct Ribbon, and Letters of Appreciation for volunteer work. John was also made Watch Leader within six months of arrival; all new personnel were assigned to his watch for training before being able to report information to the National Weather Service.

After leaving the Marine Corp, John started a Sales career serving the Auto Industry, Insurance, Financial services and purchasing the rights in Orange County California for the distribution of two hair care product lines.

John also attended the Collage of Oceaneering in Wilmington, Ca. and became a certified Commercial Diver and Inspector. Continuing his inspection career in Commercial, Military, Aerospace components, he was certified in three different ASNT disciplines.

Joining Corning Inc. as the first R&D technician, he worked to become the Lead Technician, developing and transferring into production several Micro Fiber Optic devices used in the Telecommunication Industry. Using the information learned at Corning, he is now testing Active and Passive Fiber Optic connectors and cable systems for a national laboratory, working with Military and Commercial components.

John started a Non-Profit 501 (c) 3 corporation several years ago with Brian Keopke, Gamers Care, Inc. They use video games tournaments to assist schools in fund raising, church out reach programs and works with the Marines at Camp Pendleton for Family Days and Christmas Parties.

John has one child from a previous marriage, and married his current wife, Sherry, on Sep 14th 2001. The currently reside in La Mirada, with their Golden Retriever and Miniature dachshund. He is currently working on restoring a 1974 Porsche and learning Computer Aided Design and CNC machining. John and Sherry are currently a members of Knott Avenue Christian Church in Anaheim, Ca.
