I'm proud to have served on the SFWPA Board of Directors for over 12 years. During that time the agency has nearly completed the complex relicensing of it's hydropower project with the Federal government. Also, a, new contract with PG&E is producing revenue at premium prices. Revenue has increased significantly, making it possible to cut domestic water rates beginning in 2012. A large solar power system was installed to reduce the primary water treatment plant's electricity cost. That plant is also scheduled for expansion beginning in 2011. Over 60 miles of old leaking steel pipe has been replaced. Water-delivery ditches are being sealed to stop leaks and conserve water, making more available to farmers. Extending the irrigation system to outlying areas is one of my primary goals. Our smaller Bangor domestic-water system is underutilized, and my goal is to extend it to households not presently served. Distribution system improvements, increased efficiency and treatment capacity expansion is ensuring continued delivery of economical irrigation and domestic water to southeast Butte County. I'm asking for your vote so I can continue working to keep SFWPA efficient and productive. |
