Candidate for
Councilmember; City of Seaside

I have been a resident of the city of Seaside since 1983. I served in the United States Army as a Non-commission Officer from 1973-1983. Upon completion of my military career, I selected Seaside to settle down and raise my family. I have two sons, now grown who have benefited from the many resources our community has to offer.

My background includes twenty one years of fire service experience, which includes working as a Fire Captain, Engineer, and Firefighter. I am a State Certified Fire Officer and have completed my Chief Officer courses of instruction. I have also completed all of the courses in the Fire Prevention Officer series.

I have served as the President of the Firefighters Union. Also I have served on various city and fire department committees.

I have taken advantage of the resources at MPC. I have Associate of Arts degrees in Business-General and General Education. I also have Associate of Science degrees in Fire Science and Administration of Justice. All obtained at MPC.

For the past 12 years I have been serving as an elected Director of the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District. In 2004 I had the honor of serving as Chair of this board.

In My capacity as a Director, I have always kept the best interest of our City as my first priority. One of my accomplishments was the second bathroom Ordinance for single family dwellings. Turning half baths into full baths without causing a debit to the jurisdiction's allocation. Another, Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) for the Seaside Groundwater Basin. This promises to protect the Seaside Groundwater from draw-down impacts and to improve drought protection for consumers.

I am a self motivated, dedicated man who is able to coordinate and communicate well with management and personnel at all levels. I function very efficiently within decision-making environments, under pressure and in rapidly changing situations. Being reactive I consistently produce measurable results. I am also proactive as evident in my plans for the future of the City of Seaside.
