Vice Chair Social Science Department Trustee, North Orange County Community College District Vice-president (2010) Adjunct Instructor, Long Beach City College, Rio Hondo Community College, Orange Coast Community College, Cypress College, Los Angeles Community College District Special Projects: Commission on the Future, Vice-Chair: State-wide panel formed by the Community College League of California to report on the 2020 vision for student success. (Jan 2010 + Present) California Leadership Alliance for Student Success (CLASS): A select group of community college CEOs and trustees who focus their attention on key leadership strategies and policies to increase successful outcomes for community college students. (August, 2009 + November, 2010) Administrative Leadership Program (ALP): An administrative Leadership Program sponsored by LACCD to foster the creation of a new generation of visionary, student-centered administrative leaders. Our upcoming project entitled, ACCESS (Acclimate to the Community College and Enhance Student Success) will be a one-week summer bridge program designed to ease the transition from high school to community college. (2007-2008) National Endowment for the Humanities (Landmarks Program): In 2007 I participated in the John Adams program in Boston and in 2008 I have been accepted into the program looking at colonial Institutions in Philadelphia. These workshops are designed for community college faculty to enrich their courses through exposure to the artifacts via documents and site visits. Through this program I wrote about John Adam's views regarding education. Leadership Development Institute: A semester course offered through Long Beach City College and the University of California Los Angeles which focused on various aspects of the Community College system. It involved a series of guest speakers who covered a variety of topics ranging from excellence in teaching to human resources to research and strategic planning. I earned credit by completing the presentation at the Lilly Conference. (1996) National Institute for Leadership Development: A week long conference attended by 42 higher education employees from community colleges across the country which dealt with current issues facing community colleges and how to bring about change. (1997) Leadership Development Institute: Presented by the California Community College Council for Staff and Organizational Development and the Company of Experts. Discussed issues such as communication, team building, and motivation. (2001-2) Intergenerational Panel Discussion: I coordinated senior citizens to speak to my current U.S. history classes about their experiences in WWII. Hosted a panel discussion of Women in Long Beach in conjunction with Women's History Month. Volunteer Work:
