EXCELLENT RESULTS FOR STUDENTS AND OUR COMMUNITY

High level student academic accomplishments, excellent school performance, extracurricular program awards, and very positive survey results reflect my effectiveness as Trustee.

• Academic Performance Index (API) earned District "High Performing Status," and all 34 U.S. Adequate Yearly Progress criteria achieved in 2009

• Significantly improved student test scores and school rankings - both statewide and among similar schools

• Achieved highest test score increase (Academic Performance Index) among districts in Orange County in past years

• Recognized for greatest improvement in Advanced Placement in Orange County. Currently achieving 70% passing rate annually while enabling more students to participate

• District's National Merit Scholars are 30% of Orange County's total

• Achievement gap significantly narrowed for English learners and students with learning disabilities

• 5 schools as California Distinguished Schools

• 3 schools as National Blue Ribbon/Exemplary Schools

• All schools in the top 7% in the U.S., including Troy as #55

• La Vista HS selected as the first Model Continuation High School in Orange County

• Buena Park HS AVID program chosen as National Demonstration School

• Top science, fine arts, debate, agriculture, and/or JROTC awards in the nation, state, and/or county earned by each school

• Extremely positive 2008/09 survey results show an average over 90% parent and faculty satisfaction with the schools, the District, the leadership, and confidence in the Board of Trustees
