Additionally, new and more effective Code enforcement policies and procedures have been enacted to mitigate blight, ensure compliance and protect property values for our citizens and business owners. Finally, more efficient administrative policies have been developed and adopted to ensure governmental transparency and accountability.

However, much more work remains to be accomplished to fulfill the city's goal to become a healthy, economically sustainable community with a variety of cultural, educational and recreational/entertainment choices for our residents. Given our current economic uncertainty and challenges the task will not be easy. That is why now, more than ever, Indio will need Experienced and Proven Leadership to navigate through the difficult decisions that may confront us in the days ahead. Several of my priorities are as follows;

Public Safety shall remain my top priority. The Indio Police Department's current reputation and ranking as one of the State's finest demonstrates the success of my continued commitment and support. Our law enforcement professionals know that I am an advocate of continued training and updated equipment necessary to ensure their safety as well as that of our citizens.

I will continue to encourage private sector job growth and promote new business through an aggressive economic development campaign and participation in the Coachella Valley Economic Blueprint.

I will strive to maintain a balanced budget that addresses more cost effective procedures and programs to ensure that quality of life or safety services are not diminished or eliminated.

I will maintain my accessibility to all by continuing to host town hall meetings and open door sessions at city hall. My reputation is that I address people honestly and frankly. I will continue to push for `open government' by the posting of the City budget and other documents on the city website so all the residents can get the facts and stay informed. I am proud to be a native son of Indio and, together with my wife Joanne; we raised our family in Indio. Before my retirement, I was employed for 18 years with the Indio Police Dept. and 13 years with the DA's office in Indio. My commitment to Indio is unquestionable. I ask for your continued support.
