Addressing the need for a new Library
There are people that think libraries are a 19th and 20th century institution. That misses the point. Libraries are not about books; they are about: knowledge, information, pleasure, learning.... They began and still are a free, public means of self-edification. The Master Plan for the Campbell Library has benefits for the nearby businesses (underground parking). The money will need to come from the community via donations and perhaps a local bond or Foundation. A notable challenge is that may users are from San Jose. Although there is payment for their use of the Campbell library, there is currently no mechanism for financial assistance for a Campbell-owned building. That said, the first place to start is to keep the library open to the fullest extent possible. The more users, the more potential for financial support down the road.
