Congressman George Miller is a lifelong resident of Contra Costa County and a recognized leader on education, labor, and the environment. He has a long record of legislative achievements creating good jobs, making college more affordable, and improving public school education. He has fought against insurance companies and won -- to make health care more affordable and accessible. He helped restore accountability to big banks and credit card companies on behalf of consumers. And he has always worked to enact public policies that also protect the taxpayer. He was an early opponent of the war in Iraq and he opposes further escalation of the war in Afghanistan. George fought for and won protections of the Bay Delta to ensure its long-term survival and to guarantee equitable sharing of California's precious fresh water. He strongly opposes extending Bush-era tax cuts to millionaires and billionaires and supports providing a tax cut to the middle class and to small businesses. George is married, has two sons and six grandchildren. He represents portions of Contra Costa and Solano counties.
