Issue: Transportation, Local Economy, Creating Jobs
With the construction on Thousand Oaks Boulevard, as well as the longer waits that come with living in Southern California, city government needs to be more vigilant about coordinating traffic.
- Rational road construction + Road construction should be banned during rush hour. It keeps us waiting in traffic, and it lowers worker productivity.
- Well-maintained roads + Taxpaying commuters are entitled to drive on roads that are well-maintained, adequately lit, and free of potholes and debris. This is a safety issue, and we can either pay with more accidents and car repairs, or by maintaining roads in a reasonable manner.
- Green lights + We need to "link and sync" traffic signals to improve traffic flow in our city. This is a low cost option that keeps lights green and traffic moving.
- Transportation for students + Providing free transportation for students gives them a safe way to meet up with friends and stay out of trouble. We also need to extend operation hours on Fridays and Saturdays to 10pm.
- Free Wi-Fi at all bus stops + This allows riders to take advantage of an information application that tells them when the next bus is coming and how to get to their destination.
- TO 311 + Commuters need a one-stop number to find schedules and information, report complaints and make suggestions.
"We all want to spend less time looking at life through a windshield and more time with our families and friends. The way to do this isn't just through more roads + it's through a more efficient use of what we already have." - Brandon
