Why Am I Running?

Crucial decisions that will determine the long-term future of Brisbane will undoubtedly be made in the next few years. One of them will involve negotiating with the owner of the Baylands as to what will happen on the 660 acres in Brisbane's front yard. When I was on the Council we negotiated with the Corporation that had the development rights to the Northeast Ridge of San Bruno Mountain. The negotiations were conducted under the auspices of the Court as the Developer had sued not only the City but also me and two other members of the Council. Nevertheless, we were able to negotiate an agreement that reduced the number of housing units by over 50% and obtain developer contributions that made possible the Mission Blue Community Center and Sports fields, the swimming pool, the new City Hall, and major improvements to the drainage and road systems in Crocker Park.
