I take a great amount of pride in calling the Queen City home. It's where I grew up, where I went to college, where I work at my family's small business, and where I plan to invest my future. My dedication to public service began with my first job as a Congressional Aide to Congressman Rob Portman and then Congresswoman Jean Schmidt. My work with the citizens of the 2nd Congressional District of Ohio taught me the importance of good constituent service and the effects of legislative policy, as I helped senior citizens manage through the first year of Medicare Prescription Drug Plans. I then worked as a policy analyst at the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber of Commerce, where I explored the impact that legislation had on the business community at the local, state and federal levels. In 2009, I returned to work at my family's small business, Mills Fence Company. I know firsthand the hard work and tough decisions involved with managing a business in a recovering economy. I will bring the common sense, fiscal values of managing a small business in a down economy to the Cincinnati City Council budgeting table. I've served as a member of various organizations including: the Cincinnatus Association, Cincy PAC, the Hamilton County Leadership Committee, the Mt. Lookout Community Council, and the Hamilton County Elderly Services Board. This year, I was named to the Cincinnati Business Courier's 2011 Class of Forty Under 40 for my professional accomplishments and community volunteer work. I am a 2003 graduate of the University of Cincinnati and this June I earned a Master Degree in Public Policy and Management from the John Glenn School of Public Affairs at The Ohio State University. I reside in Mt. Lookout with my husband Kyle. In my spare time you can find me enjoying the Cincinnati Arts scene, singing at the Kenwood Baptist Church, or spending time at one of my very favorite spots in the city, the Cincinnati Observatory. |
