Candidate for
Board Member; Three Rivers Local School District

MISSION STATEMENT:

As a Three Rivers School Board Member, I pledge to explore, develop and implement educational policy, to ensure that all students in the Three Rivers Community have the opportunity to receive the highest level of quality education to foster learning, personal growth, scholastic achievement, and success in the 21st Century.

MY BELIEFS AND VISION:

As a Mom, I believe learning begins at home, and that a healthy cohesive relationship between parents, administrators, and educators is key for children to grow, thrive and excel in school.

Students deserve the greatest academic opportunities, including superior teachers who are encouraging, positive, and flexible with a heartfelt desire to see their students truly succeed.

All schools in the Three Rivers School District should consistently achieve an Excellent rating. To accomplish this, the district must:

• Develop high quality academic programs and extracurricular activities.

• Quickly address underperforming academic areas to ensure a high quality education for all students.

• Retain and hire the best and most experienced teachers.

• Encourage increased parental involvement.

Like many things in government, I believe that the way public education is funded should and must be reformed. Passing on higher educational costs to citizens in a community is NOT ideal.

That being said, I realize that school districts, including the Three Rivers School District, MUST work within the educational structure and system that the United States government currently has in place. In order for for students attending public school to receive a quality education, it is necessary for the citizens in a community to contribute financially to the local schools AT THIS TIME.

The Three Rivers School District is accountable to the community and MUST be fiscally sound and responsible. As a School Board Member, I will do my part in determining that what is spent on education is necessary and proven to be effective; as indiscriminately spending more money per student will not guarantee smarter or more successful students. In addition, as an acute observer of politics on a national and state level, I will continuously monitor legislation that may improve or reform educational funding.

To reduce expenses, the district must:

• Explore outsourcing consortium and sub-contracting opportunities to save money.

• Evaluate open positions prior to filling them.

• Investigate alternative funding options and opportunities.

• Proactively work with State of Ohio Legislators to fix the current school funding crisis.

If elected, I will consider it an honor and a privilege to serve the children, parents, and citizens of the Three Rivers community as a Three Rivers School Board Member.
