What experiences and personal qualities best equip you to serve as judge? Answer from James D. Otto: I've served for 9 years as a Judge presiding over 150 criminal trials (gang murders, etc.). I've been managing partner of a law firm. As Supervising Judge I've been responsible for 3 courthouses and 30 bench officers. I comprehend the state's budget crisis and how to best adapt to it. Do you believe that all citizens have adequate access to legal help and the legal system? If not, what can be done to provide wider and better access? Answer from James D. Otto: No. We need to improve court business processes, increase outreach, civic education, leverage technology and insure that our court system is adequately funded.
