After a 2-year stint in the Peace Corps in Brazil, I entered UCLA's doctoral program in Public Health. After graduation in 1982 I went to work for Los Angeles County, eventually rising to manager of Health, Safety and Disability Benefits. I spent 25 years with the County.

I've been a member of our local Democratic Club for about 20 years, becoming more active after retirement in 2008. I'm currently serving as President of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Democratic Club, as an Alternate to the L A County Democratic Party Central Committee and as a Democratic State Central Committee member. I currently serve on the Community Outreach Committee of the LA County Democratic Party.

I'm married to a veterinarian and my husband and I have owned Bay Cities Pet Hospital in Torrance for 32 years.

I'm a member of SEIU Local 721.

I've volunteered for the last 3 years for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Victim Witness Assistance Program for which the DA awarded me the 2011 Volunteer of the Year award.

Prior volunteer service included a 7-year turn in the Torrance Memorial Hospital escort services unit.

The Board of Supervisors recently nominated me to serve on one of the County Redevelopment Oversight Boards that will be unwinding the affairs of the various Community Redevelopment Agencies.
