Gang Violence PreventionBy Jane B. ParkerCandidate for Supervisor; County of Monterey; District 4 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
The Community Alliance for Safety and Peace is demonstrating that, even with stretched resources, services to keep kids out of gangs are more targeted and effective with good communication between organizations and the community.I have made it a priority to work for viable solutions to reduce gang violence in Monterey County through building effective collaborative efforts between local government agencies, non-profits, businesses, and individual community members. With my efforts as an active member of the Community Alliance for Safety and Peace (CASP) to develop a comprehensive framework for Safety and Peace, Salinas was selected as one of six cities nationwide for special assistance from the White House in reducing violence and rebuilding a peaceful community. My vision is not limited to Salinas. I want to ensure that all of Monterey County is equipped to respond -- early and effectively -- to the threat of youth and gang violence. |
