Candidate for
Supervisor; County of Alameda; Supervisorial District 2

I am running to restore accountability, service and integrity to this office. I will represent my community with honesty, transparency, and accessibility to my District 2 constituents and all residents of Alameda County. I have no interest in using this appointment as a stepping stone to another elected position. Nothing is more important to me than listening to your concerns, being accessible and serving your needs as your County Supervisor.

Priority 1 is providing education and good jobs for our workforce and especially our youth. Workforce development through job training and improved access to county contracting opportunities are also important pieces to providing job opportunities. I have dedicated most of my life to helping youth find meaningful employment, including young people who have been previously incarcerated. In my experience at Tri-CED, we were dedicated to hiring youth and hard to employ individuals and reintegrating them back into the workplace and community since 1980 by providing job training, work experience and permanent jobs.

Priority 2 is to be honest, transparent, and accessible to constituents of District 2. Since taking office I have meet with businesses, residents, community based organizations, developers, government agencies, chambers of commerce, and many others from throughout District 2. I have made it clear that when you contact our office timely and appropriate follow-up will occur.

Priority 3 is protecting and restoring our natural environment. As your County Supervisor, I am currently working on a Habitat Restoration Project in Union City. This project includes habitat restoration, youth employment, helping foster and homeless youth, while creating a California Live Oak canopy of trees in the tri-city area hills - the largest habitat restoration in the Easy Bay. I am also working with various stakeholders to move forward a plan to develop a bike and pedestrian trail through Niles Canyon to Sunol.
