Candidate for
Board Member; Moreland School District

Robert Varich attended Moreland Schools as a youngster and is an active community member. The Mayor and San Jose City Council appointed him in 1993 to the San Jose Appeals Hearing Board. He served for 6 years, most recently as its Chairman. Robert was active in the Measure J campaign that benefited the Moreland Community and currently serves on the Measure J Bond Oversight Committee. Robert was appointed to the Moreland District Personnel Commission in 2001 and served as its Chairman. Robert was appointed to the Moreland School Board in May of 2004, replacing Francis Amlin who retired from the board. Robert won in the 2004 Election and continues to serve currently.

Robert has been active at the school level as well, serving as the Chair of the Walk-a-thon that raised $35,000 for the enrichment programs of Country Lane Elementary School.

Robert is married to Cyndi and they have two children, Kelli 16 and John 11. Kelli is at Prospect High School and John attends Moreland Middle School. They both have played soccer, baseball and softball and Robert has served as coach on several of their teams.

Robert worked for Alpha Beta Markets from 1979 to 1987 working in various capacities most recently as an Assistant Manager. Robert began his career with Allstate Insurance Co. in 1987 and currently owns three offices, 1125 Saratoga Avenue, 1313 N Milpitas Road in Milpitas and 1200 Pacific Avenue Santa Cruz Ca. He employs twelve people from the local area and continues to support Schools and local charities. Robert also co-founded the Trade Group Conference "MEGA Conference" in 2005. This conference focuses on best practices in the insurance industry and pulls together leaders nationwide.
