San Diego County, CA | November 6, 2012 Election |
GoalsBy Joyce A. DalessandroCandidate for Board Member; San Dieguito Union High School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
1.Commitment to forward thinking, cutting edge program development throughout the District to ensure continued success for our students and excellence for each of our schools. 2.Commitment to preserving the sound fiscal practices that have served the District so well in lean budget years and which have retained a healthy reserve in our General Fund Budget. Continue the implementation of cost saving measures District-wide so that not a single hard-fought education dollar is wasted. We are not now, nor have we ever been, in the red. 3.Continue the positive, collaborative relationship between Board, administration and District employee associations, with a particular emphasis on open communication, support and the sharing of information. 4.Support faculty and staff in their efforts to successfully close the achievement gap that exists for our under-represented students. Examine the data on programs that are in place; "grow" those that prove successful to all schools in the District. 5.Take a leadership role in supporting the multi-district effort to achieve easier, more frequent and more positive access to and influence over our legislators. Frequent dialogue with our elected officials is critical in light of the state budget, un-funded mandates, redundancy of testing, textbooks, and many other education issues. 6.Move our campuses toward "greener" environments through expanded solar energy projects, improving fields to reduce water consumption, encouraging conservation measures District-wide. |
