Since being named Executive Director of Chinese American Voter Education Committee (CAVEC) in 1993, David has organized hundreds of voter registration drives throughout the Bay Area, building CAVEC into a recognized and respected organization for the Asian-American community in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area.

He frequently speaks before groups and provides commentary on voting and civic engagement for the media.

An Educator For eight years, David has taught college students about American politics as a Political Science instructor at San Francisco State University (SFSU ). He is also an active member of the Faculty Rights Panel of the SFSU Chapter of California Faculty Association.

20 Years of Community Service His service to the City of San Francisco extends beyond far his work with CAVEC.

David was appointed to the San Francisco Recreation and Park Commission in 2005. He has helped the Recreation and Park Department develop new recreation facilities, like Argonne Clubhouse, Rossi Playground and Lincoln Playground. He has worked to keep programs at Richmond Recreation Center and Golden Gate Senior Center running, and has fought to secure funding for the rebuilding of facilities at the Cabrillo, Fulton, Richmond and Rochambeau playgrounds.

David has served as Chairman of the nine-member U.S. Census Information Steering Committee. He was also a founding member and Co-Chair of the Richmond Community Police Advisory Board (CPAB), a forum created to bring Richmond district residents and the police together to prioritize problems.

A native of San Francisco, He attended San Francisco public schools. He graduated from Wallenberg High School in 1987 and went on to earn a B.A. in American History from Hamilton College in New York. After college, he returned home to work in his community and raise a family. David and his wife, Jing, are raising two children in the Richmond district, where they also own a small business.
