Ballot StatementBy Mike HealyCandidate for Council Member; City of Petaluma | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Working together for 12 years, we have accomplished a lot.We have passed the Rainier cross-town connector ballot measure with 72% "yes" votes. We have built the Payran flood fix. Working together, we have revitalized our downtown and brought a movie theater here. With your support, I have led the fight against more casinos in Sonoma County, and I continue to oppose the asphalt plant across from Shollenberger Park. But there is much more to do. Traffic congestion is serious. We must complete the 101 widening through the Narrows and implement SMART rail, and we must make Rainier a reality. We must devote more funding to fixing streets. Careful infill development is critical to creating jobs, fighting sprawl and fixing the City's budget. Improved playing fields are needed for youth sports. Petaluma's budget has declined by 30% during the recession. I have worked to maintain services, grow the City's retail sales base and minimize water and sewer rates. I support giving Police and Fire the resources they need. Our commitment to social services, particularly seniors and COTS, must be continued. Working together, we will maintain our quality of life in Petaluma. I hope you will allow me to continue serving you as I have for 12 years. |
