Jenni was raised in Santa Rosa where she attended Brook Hill Elementary School, Herbert Slater Junior High and Montgomery High School, where she was a CSF Scholar-Athlete. After high school, Jenni attended Santa Rosa Junior College and worked for the Sonoma County Family YMCA as a lifeguard and swim instructor. After a year, Jenni put her studies on hold and took a management position with the Y. For the next several years, Jenni worked in aquatics and youth programs with the Sonoma County Family, Marin, Palisades, and Santa Monica YMCAs. She also volunteered as an adviser with YMCA Youth & Government, a hands-on program for high school students with the aim of building civic engagement. In Southern California, Jenni coached swimming at the high school and club level. Jenni coached the Los Angeles city champion swim team, Palisades High School. She started a swim team at Hamilton High School, and developed a nationally competitive club team at the Crescenta-Canada YMCA. She coached a number of nationally-ranked and All-American swimmers, many of whom moved on to swim competitively in college, one of whom competed for West Point, and another with the United States Air Force Academy. After a long hiatus, Jenni returned to school in 1998, graduating in 2002 from University of California at Los Angeles with a degree in biochemistry. While in school, Jenni paid the bills by working as a personal trainer and volunteered in the Santa Monica College tutoring center helping students with math and science, and foreign exchange students with English. Jenni attended law school at Indiana University + Bloomington, graduating with honors in 2005. At law school, Jenni volunteered to lead the student body's Election Protection group, worked as a research assistant, and served as the administrator for an International Moot Court competition. Upon graduation from law school, Jenni moved home to Sonoma County to be close to her family. She has worked as a civil litigator for the law firms of Lanahan & Reilley, Zyromski Konicek, and Abbey Weitzenberg, Warren & Emery. Jenni now owns her own practice and practices in civil litigation and appellate law. Jenni currently serves as the vice president for the Sonoma County Public Library Foundation and is on the board of the Sonoma County Family YMCA. She continues to serve every Election Day as part of the Election Protection legal team. She recently helped develop a pilot program to be run jointly by the Library and the YMCA for high school students, through which the participants will learn about career and education opportunities, career and education planning, and prepare college and/or vocational school and scholarship applications. Jenni formerly served on the board of Sonoma Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for youth, and the UCLA Alumni Scholarship Committee. Although her law practice and volunteer work keep her busy, in her free time, Jenni enjoys live music, movies, working out, taking her wonder dog, Maisy, swimming, and spending time with her family. |
