While there may be an opportunity to produce more clean-burning energy in the form of natural gas, we must be responsible with this resource and hold companies accountable for their actions."

Kelly Devine will stand up to Harrisburg insiders in order to protect our precious water.

In the rush, leading up to our July 1st budget, state lawmakers imposed a local moratorium without holding one hearing or receiving any expert testimony through an open forum. While Kelly agrees with the ban against local drilling, this startling development demonstrates how our lawmakers failed to be held publicly accountable for both their actions and inaction.

Few issues are as vital as the safety of our local water supply. Because of the dire consequences, Harrisburg must inform citizens of its proposals, publicize and conduct regular public forums and act swiftly to protect our most precious assets. Rather than wait for a last-minute deadline, Kelly will work daily to keep our water safe.

Polluted water knows no boundaries. The Delaware River Basin provides water to all or portions of 42 counties and 838 municipalities in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. Our water travels through areas of Northeastern Pennsylvania where Natural Gas from the Marcellus Shale is currently extracted. Any contamination from this region will directly impact drinking water in Montgomery County. Kelly will lead the fight to keep our water safe.
