Candidate for
Board Member; Northern Humboldt Union High School District

Striving for achievement for ALL students in our district is my main goal and focus as a Board member. As a high schools district, we have four short years to prepare these young people for life as adults. It's critical to be able to offer them choices as they make that transition from the world of high school to their next journey; we must use the resources available (personnel, technology, curriculum, vocational programs, alternative ed, facilities, etc. to do so.

During the last two years, I have learned a great deal about our district, including Measure Q construction, bonds, policies, evaluations, negotiations, personnel issues, accountability reporting, and more, so as an incumbent, I feel we-equipped to move this district forward.

Probably the most valuable lesson I have learned is to listen: to students and their families, teachers and staff, and individuals in our communities. I will continue to make it a point to live the role of a Board member: to be a role model to our students, a leader to our staff and community, and a representative for all. And as Sarie Toste's daughter, I will also be her voice in upholding quality education in NoHum.
