Pradeep Gupta was appointed to the City Council of the City of South San Francisco on December 31, 2012. Prior to his appointment to the City Council, Dr. Gupta served on the Planning Commission since 2009 and as its Chairman in 2011. He brings a wealth of experience through his long-term engagement with the people of South San Francisco.

Pradeep Gupta's family chose to settle in South San Francisco 15 years ago because of its safe community, good neighbors and natural beauty. As a first generation immigrant, he migrated to U.S.A. nearly 50 years ago. After graduating from Indian Institute of Technology with a B.E. in Electrical Engineering and M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in Indiana, he started a 30-year management career in the electric power industry. Dr. Gupta is happily married and celebrating his 43rd anniversary with his wife. The Gupta couple is blessed with two children and four grandchildren.
