Council Member; City of Burlingame

Background

I have altruistically helped other people and charities my entire life. Even now, I primarily work with public and private schools and faith-based organizations on their real estate strategy, real estate financial analysis and real estate contract negotiations. For example, I closed $25.55M in school real estate transactions in Q1 2013.

It's this "Service Above Self" ethical compass that is essential for any City Council Member to BE ABLE to serve the 29,450 residents of Burlingame - as an honest FIDUCIARY.

You'll see my "Service Above Self" in my volunteer work with Rotary International (I started my membership 8 years ago), Lincoln Elementary Dads Club (became a member 3 years ago), the Burlingame Chamber of Commerce (became a member this year), and I am now Co-Chair of The Burlingame Dads' Club (I relaunched this formerly low-key club 2 1/2 years ago, when it was an official subclub of the Burlingame Mothers' Club, which has 1,700 members).

In Chicago, I served on the Board of Governors for pro-bono tech training / consulting philanthropy, IT Resource Center (now called LumITy), for 5 consecutive terms. I was also appointed to the Chicago Public Schools Technology Steering Committee. I am also an avid competitive yacht racer (main trimmer), skier, surfer, and I've run 4 marathons.

My wife, Jamie, recently earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University. She is now a professor in the PGSP-Stanford psychology graduate training program and is building a private practice focused on women's mental health concerns. My son, Miles, and daughter, Hanna, both attend Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from preschool at First Presbyterian Church.

I graduated from Northwestern University and then Kellogg School of Management with my MBA in Finance, Marketing and Entrepreneurship (3.6/4.0 GPA). I recently served as the Treasurer and Events Chair of the Kellogg Alumni Club for 2 1/2 years, where I created and produced over 35 mostly sold-out speaker events.

In 2005, I joined Cornish & Carey Commercial as a Vice President and co-founded their data center real estate practice.

In 2009, I founded Symphonic Investments to work with Public and Private Schools and Faith-Based organizations like San Jose Unified School District, Harker School, and South Bay Church on their commercial real estate strategy and negotiations. I've completed over $25M in school real estate transactions in 2013.
