Candidate for
Mayor; City of Torrance

Tom was elected to the City Council on June 6, 2006. He is the chairman of the Citizen Development and Enrichment Committee, and is a member of the Public Safety Committee, the Transportation Committee, and Armed Forces Day Committee. He is also a voting delegate to the Independent Cities Association and to the Municipal Area Express (MAX). In addition, he serves as the alternate voting delegate to the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) and the South Bay Cities Council of Governments (SBCCOG).

Prior to his election to the City Council, Tom served on the City's Civil Service Commission where he was the chairman from 2000 to 2001 and from 2005 to 2006. He also served on the Environmental Quality and Energy Conservation Commission from 1996 to 1999, and as chairman from 1998 to 1999.

A resident of Torrance since 1953, Tom's contribution to the community includes involvement in organizations such as the Torrance Education Foundation, Southwood Riviera Homeowners' Association and the Southern California Branch American Society of Microbiology.

Tom Brewer is a Clinical Microbiologist at UCLA Medical Center.
