This information is provided by the candidate |
Ensuring we police effectively first and foremost"An effective Sheriff's Department is best when it focuses on the core functions of keeping our neighborhoods and jurisdictions safe. That means focused and constitutional street patrols and investigations, safe and humane county jails, quality court security and first-rate transit safety." A PRIORITY ON CORE FUNCTIONS "The following are the core functions of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. As Sheriff, I will ensure that each of these service units are providing Los Angeles County residents with the highest level of service. Patrol Investigations Jails Court Security Transit Safety County Parks, Community Colleges and County Facilities. Fiscal Responsibility I believe the Sheriff Department needs to live within its means. As Assistant Sheriff, I balanced the Department's $2.8 billion budget for the first time in several years. As Sheriff, I will continue to deliver a balanced budget, identify and eliminate unfunded positions that are detrimental to the delivery of core services and end mandatory CARPing." |
