I grew up during the 1960's, so I am familiar with cultural upheaval and the struggle for equality and Civil rights. I believe public service means accepting a role in advancing and maintaining our Community. There is some level of sacrifice or altruistic nature in a person called to public service - we should not take that away by over-compensating those who stand to serve their Communities.
I believe every Citizen, young or old, has value and something to offer the rest of us. We must strive for equality and fair treatment in our institutions, in our laws and in our daily discourse. It's pretty simple, really... It's about balance.
