Political Philosophy for Victoria I. Shanahan
Candidate for |
You will find that I am not afraid to state a position on my political philosophies even if that means some people won't agree with me. I intend to set standards within the office that reflect a "smart on crime" approach within our community. I will aggressively target violent crime and assign the most experienced trial lawyers to handle those cases. I will reinstitute a homicide/violent crime unit. It is unusual for a county this size to not have one. I will set progressive policies on marijuana and non violent felony cases, so that we stop wasting resources on cases that should be a low priority. In setting clear policies, law enforcement will receive much needed direction in what cases we will and will not file. Finally, I will not give lip service to "change". I believe change is needed in the officer involved protocol. I will enact change that brings a more efficient, independent and transparent process to rebuild the trust within the community. Please review my website for more specific issues and philosophies, at http://www.Shanahan4DA.com. Thank you. |
