Candidate for
Council Member; City of Newport Beach; District 6

Scott is a licensed architect with over 35 years' experience in the construction and real estate profession. He received a BS in Architecture from the University of Illinois, moved to Orange County and started his architecture career. In 1992 he started his own real estate consulting firm.

Scott served on the Newport Beach Planning Commission from 2006-2010; he also chaired the Commission for a term. During this time he helped lead implementation of the comprehensive zoning plan of the 2006 General Plan Update as approved by the voters. This was a comprehensive overhaul that changed the approach to the zoning code.

Scott and his wife Linda met at Mariners Church 36 years ago in Newport Beach; they will have been married 34 years in November. They have lived in Newport nearly 9 years, moving to CDM in January after 8 years in the Port Streets. They have three grown children all born at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach; two graduated from Corona Del Mar High School, where both excelled in water polo and swimming. Their oldest was married last year. Their son and his wife had their first child in July (and Scott and Linda's first grandchild). Their youngest recently graduated with her Masters in Sports Management, where she had a water polo scholarship.

Scott and Linda are both committed to their church, where Scott is a lay leader in the Men's Ministry. And in past years, Scott was also a scoutmaster for Brian's Boy Scout troop, where the Eagle Scout tradition was passed from father to son.
