Candidate for
Board Member; Campbell Union High School District

After graduating from UC Davis, I returned home to Santa Clara County and earned a teaching credential as a science specialist from San Jose State. I started my teaching career at St. Lucy's in Campbell, then transitioned to Fisher Middle School in my hometown of Los Gatos, where I worked for many years. My family and I settled in the Cambrian area, where my three children graduated from Leigh High School.

Six years ago I transitioned into a career with the California Teachers Association and currently work as the statewide finance and organizing specialist for County Offices of Education, Community Colleges and Adult, Alternative and Career Technical Education. Last December when there was a vacancy on the CUHSD board, I wanted to use my unique skill set to give back to my community and benefit the district. I was very happy to have been appointed to the Board from among a field of 13 applicants.

In my short time on the Board, I have already been instrumental in helping to secure $600,000 in grant money to start an Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing pathway for students at Westmont and Del Mar high schools. Students graduating from this program will have the option to go to De Anza College (with credit for a year of classes), or have priority admission to the Engineering program at San Jose State. I am hoping to remain on the board in order to help foster more pathways, among other goals.
