1. Background Occupation:Pastor of Missions and Pastoral Care + Highlands Church Spouse: Rick Griffin Children: Gunnar (17), Lauren (16) Years in Paso: 21 Years Background related to education: Trustee elected 2010 - 2014, served two terms as President of the PRJUSD School Board. Worked as a crossing guard for PRJUSD for 4 years, PTA Secretary 2 years, Art Docent 1 Year, Girls Talk Leader @ Flamson, Lewis, Liberty and PRHS 5 years 2. Why are you running? Katy Griffin (Pastor/Trustee): It has been a privilege and an honor to serve in the capacity as Trustee for the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District for the last four years, two of them as Board President. As a leader I will continue to be forward-looking, meeting budget challenges but not letting them prevent the district from creating innovative new programs that are fiscally responsible. I have always played an active role in supporting the education community. I've been involved with PTA, coached AYSO, served as a crossing guard and currently offer my services for the past six years as a mentor/counselor in program called "Girl Talk" at four of our school sites. I am currently working on a Masters program in Marriage and Family Counseling. I have a great respect for the people that make up Paso Robles Joint Unified School District. If elected I will continue to serve as a tireless advocate for the students, parents and staff. I bring to the district compassion, incredible energy, initiative and an ability to get the job done. I hope you'll allow me an opportunity to serve as your elected representative. 3. Top Priorities: To empower educators to do what they do best; ensure integrity and transparency in all board actions and decisions; safe environment for all students. 4. How would the district benefit from your experience? As a current Trustee with the PRJUSD , I have had the opportunity to experience first hand the needs of our students and families here in Paso Robles. My experience as a Missions/Pastoral Care ministry has provided me with skills in interpersonal relationships, budgeting, staff oversight and counseling.
