Candidate for
Democratic Party Central Committee; Assembly District 13

I am running for the 13th Assembly District Democratic Central Committee seat because I want to be a voice for the young on the Central Committee. I want to bring the fresh, young people's perspective to many of the problems that San Francisco face. My major issues are primarily civil rights--providing housing, jobs, and opportunities to people so that they may excel. While most people may not think of these issues as civil rights, I do. Many people are not able to achieve housing or employment due to sex, race, disabilities, sexual orientation, or class issues. As an aide at the Board, I work most closely on issues concerning the homeless and low-income residents. I want to work with the Central Committee to help set policy at the local, state and federal level that is responsive to San Francisco's needs--i.e. funding for housing, job training, drug treatment programs, etc.

Other key issues I care about are affordable housing, land use, reliable public transit, the environment, and the widening gap of economic disparity. I'm a big-picture thinker, focused on long-term strategic planning for tackling issues.

I am fiscally conservative in the sense of wanting government accoutability to for money spent and favoring pragmatic business policies. I am interesting in looking at innovative ways to solve City problems and don't have a problem with "thinking outside of the box."

I am pro-choice, pro gun control (but not anti guns), and pro civil rights for all. I think that society has a responsibility to give people a hand-up so that they can compete in our market economy. And, I believe that everyone should have a right to privacy, regardless of their social station.

I am against statewide propositions 21 and 22, and as well as local proposition E.
