KEEPING RATE HIKES IN CONTROLBy Harold A. "Curry" CurryCandidate for Mayor; City of Morro Bay | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
MORRO BAY DOES NOT NEED TO RAISE RATES ON WATER AND GARBAGE, SO LET'S STOP THEM.We live in an area that is rich in tourism. Anyone who lives here knows that the only time the local people can enjoy the town is in the winter. Tourism is great for our local economy and gives Morro Bay a huge amount of revenue to work with, but where does that money go? Certainly not to the people who live here! Except for the embarcadero and the area just below the golf course, our streets are a mess. Our few parks are of minimum standard, and the rest of Morro Bay is not promoted at all. Recently the city council voted to spend even more money on the embarcadero and are making plans for a new city hall. The only problem is they forgot to tell YOU about it! I feel that is not what the people here need or want. I propose that the money they spent and plan to spend be put into OUR community, for our citizens and not just a chosen few. I also propose to subsidize utility rates and city rates. My opponents will tell you that can't be done. I tell you it can and will be done. No politicians wants to give money back to the people, but I'M NOT A POLITICIAN! I am an average citizen that wants to make it better. |
