WHERE IS THEIR HEARTS? WHERE?By Addie Mae MillerCandidate for Mayor; City of Los Angeles | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
It is, Ungodly, Unchristian, Unhealthy and BAD public health policy to have 16,000 Homeless PEOPLE living on the streets in the SHADOW OF CITY HALLWHERE IS THEIR HEARTS TO ALLOW A POPULATION OF 16,000 HOMELESS VETERANS, MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN TO LIVE ON THE STREETS IN THE SHADOW OF CITY HALL"! THIS IS A DISGRACE! Letter to President George W. Bush Addie Mae Miller for Mayor PO Box 875464 Los Angeles, CA 90087 Monday, February 19, 2001 President George W. Bush and Mrs. Laura Bush The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW Washington DC 20500 Dear Mrs. Laura Bush & Mr. President: As you are well aware many of our Veterans are roaming our streets homeless and hopeless. At the same time we have a number of military bases that are closed. Mr. President, this is a National disgrace! Our young men deserve better. If elected Mayor, I will direct every City Department to provide care and support for our homeless citizens. Our political leaders have betrayed our Good Americans Veterans. Our Veteran Affairs Department has failed to keep the promise. Los Angeles is a World Class City! I propose a 3-step solution to this crisis. Step 1.) Open Closed Military Bases for the Homeless! Step 2.) Direct VA and Military Medical Resources to provide care. Step 3.) Enhance Physical and Mental Health Services The November 2000 Election represented a clean break with the past. Improving Military Pay is a vital national policy. Improving Military Medical Care is a vital policy. Mr. President, Keep the Promise, our veterans deserve better than fighting with rats over food in trashcans. Thank you, Addie Mae Miller END Of LETTER NOTE: The City of Los Angeles is the #1 capitol for the Homeless, Homeless Men, Homeless Women and Homeless Children, the 2nd is New York City. It is currently 16,000 homeless people in Downtown Los Angeles. For Years the City of Los Angeles has had this problem and now it is time to resolve it! It is NO EXCUSE! It is, Ungodly, Unchristian, Unhealthy, BAD public policy and BAD public health policy to have so many homeless, homeless Veterans, Homeless Women and Homeless Children who are homeless living in the streets and gutters in the SHADOW OF CITY HALL (3 blocks east of Los Angeles City Hall)! It is a Moral Crime, Unchristian and an Ungodly Moral Crime to have so many Homeless people on the streets. We have to care for our neighbors. We can't have our neighbors fall through the social safety net. Letting people suffer is WRONG. I don't understand how our City's leaders can DRIVE EVERYDAY for YEARS to City Hall and ignore this crisis, then at the same time spend Billions$$, Billions$$ upon Billions$$ of dollars on Special Interests. WHERE IS THEIR HEART? THAT $200,000,000.00 IN LAW SUITS THAT THE TAXPAYERS ARE OBLIGATED TO PAY, COULD HAVE BEEN SPENT ON PROGRAMS TO MAKE LIFE BETTER FOR OUR SENIORS AND YOUNG PEOPLE. |
