We need to work to improve residential property values and maintain the integrity of our residential areas in Ward 5. Right now we have issues such as improper zoning, too much traffic on some of our residential streets, and the mediocre condition of some of our parks, playgrounds and infrastructure. We need to address these issues.
We need to consider incentives for homeowners to improve their properties. We also need to put in place our own programs for additional housing opportunities such as Cincinnati does through The Home Ownership Center, just to name one. Cincinnati also has programs to encourage developers to participate in new housing opportunities. When we encourage renters to become homeowners, we help all of us. We need to help organizations such as the Tree Board to achieve their goals through volunteerism in our city. Pleasant city streets will only be a benefit for all of us. And finally, we need to strengthen our animal ordinances. The safety of residents and their pets is crucial. The residents and the police need to feel they can work together to protect their safety here in Norwood.
