Recapturing sense of community

Preserving our sense of community Remember "A town called Chula Vista"? Development has nearly gobbled up every last piece of land in eastern Chula Vista causing interest in the redevelopment of our established neighborhoods. We owe it to our neighborhoods to PROTECT THAT SPECIAL AND UNIQUE SENSE OF COMMUNITY we call Chula Vista. We must protect our single-family neighborhoods, historic buildings and park space to maintain pride in Chula Vista our home.

Resources being spread thin As Chula Vista grows to the east, demand for the city's limited resources grows as well. All Chula Vista neighborhoods, no matter where they are deserve equal services and amenities. We must refocus the city's resources to ensure we LEAVE NO NEIGHBORHOOD BEHIND and that all communities benefit from our tax dollars.

Spend money in our neighborhoods City Hall has invested over $127 million in new administration buildings, landscaping and pay raises. It's time that the city invests in our neighborhoods and spends money where it's needed most.

Police and Fire Protection Chula Vista is a safe place to raise our families, but we must not put our safety on the back burner. For the last three years our police and fire services have failed to meet our minimum expectations, while we continue to grow, and the City Council lowers the standards. Let's stop spending money on new city administration buildings and other non-essential things and INVEST IN PUBLIC SAFETY personnel in our neighborhoods, where they can best protect our families.

Every public service is substandard City streets are crumbling and many of our neighborhoods lack basic infrastructure like curbs, sidewalks, and modern storm drain systems. We need a basic commitment from City Hall to invest in all of our neighborhoods.

Fairness for our Neighborhoods Eastern Chula Vista has been improved with new streets, parks and schools. There are some that support building 10,000 new homes in the West without requiring the same facilities enjoyed in our newer neighborhoods. Every Chula Vista neighborhood deserves a commitment to the same high standard that makes Chula Vista the great city we all love.

Bay front development Our precious bay front is at risk. Current plans envision 5,000-7,000 homes built without new schools, parks or roads. Once our Bay has been developed, it will be gone forever. We must oppose plans to privatize our bay. We must KEEP IT OPEN to all people of Chula Vista.
