I believe I can help Mendocino College become even betterI filed because I feel I can make a good contribution to the ongoing work of making the college responsive in a rapidly changing world to the needs of its students and to the aspirations of Mendocino and Lake county residents. I did some teaching after receiving my B.S. (and M.S.) in Physics from Carnegie-Mellon. I also earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue. I performed and directed industrial research on arcs and flames in Indiana and New York while with the Linde Division of Union Carbide. I was Chairman of the Parks and Recreation Board in Somers, NY for ten years. In 1983, my wife and I moved to Ukiah when I became Technical Manager at Retech. Equipment designed and manufactured by Retech is installed in many countries to melt space-age metals, make parts for aircraft engines, and destroy hazardous wastes. I retired from Retech four years ago, but continue to consult for them when requested. I believe my experiences in community service and knowledge of "high-tech" science and applications will help me be an effective member of the Board of Trustees. |
