Building SchoolsBy Patrick W. "Pat" MapleCandidate for Board Member; Galt Joint Union High School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
The new schools will be built, on time, on budget and with the utmost careLast year the voters of the Galt High district passed a $29M bond. With the input from many sources including a Building Steering Committee, school officials, Department Chairs, teachers and many community members a plan of attack was implemented. A Bond Oversight Committee has been formed to insure the money is spent only for new construction and not salaries or employee benefits. With seed money from a $6.4M grant from the Office of Public School Construction that was obtained by former Superintendent Dr. Christine Hoffman and current Board Member Patrick W Maple the District was able to maintain the pace needed to open the new Liberty Ranch High School (09)and the new Estrellita campus (07) as well. Together with State matching funds and other monies available to the District we have been able to raise the total money available for consturction of the new Liberty Ranch High School to nearly $70M. Estrellita High School is being built from District funds and State matching funds for approximately $9M. NO funds are being used for District offices, salaries, benefits or any thing other than the new schools. We WILL get the job done on time and on budget. |
