GrowthBy Janice E. KeatingCandidate for County Supervisor; County of Stanislaus; Supervisorial District 4 | |

Balancing future growth with quality of life in Stanislaus CountyAs a member of the Modesto City Council, I have experienced first-hand the impact of the lack of a regional perspective regarding planning, public safety, infrastructure and other issues of services and governance. I intend to use my position on the Board of Supervisors to foster a regional approach to solving our problems. Having served as a council member on the governing body of the largest city in the county uniquely positions me to fill this role. Proper planning will occur by insuring we develop in a logical pattern through growth contiguous to infrastructure and resources. I am not in favor of hopscotch development where development springs-up in an area that does not have proper access and there are inferior police and fire services. A comprehensive regional growth plan for the county, addressing issues such as traffic, farmland preservation and public services is badly needed and I have the experience and vision to bring it to fruition. |
